Pray February Letter

In our third National lockdown with the Covid death rate rising rapidly and the NHS nearing saturation point I am once more calling the Churches across BCP and the surrounding area to come together to pray. There is light on the horizon and hope with the role out of the Vaccine but we are still a long way from an end to this crisis. Can we at this time lead the way in praying for our communities, our NHS, care settings and schools at this time. I realize that people are praying already but there is something very powerful in doing this in a collective way as we experienced in October last year.

So I am asking whether your church or groups can take a day in February to pray. We can all do this in different ways as is our tradition, we can do this via zoom, telephone groups, even in church if you are open or at home alone. Some churches may be able to cover 24 hours of the day, some may only be able to cover the day time. Some Churches may want to ask people to pray each day of February at a certain time of day. It doesn’t matter how it’s done but let us as Gods people cover February in prayer.

So how can you take part? It would be good to know what is happening and who is praying when. Please can you let me know if you would like to volunteer either a day or days and when you these would be. If you want to pray for the whole month at a time of day then it would be good to know this too so I can use this to let others know what is happening.

I will be developing a new simple prayer resource with general ideas for prayer, set prayers and bible verses to use which I will send on to you. We will also be working with the guys at Faithworks and using page to add ideas to pray during the month and requests from those in particular leadership situations across the conurbation. We also hope at the end of the month to have a morning slot on Hope FM with stories of prayer and why prayer is important – more details to follow.. So please get in touch with me at: or on 077134 90076

I strongly believe that our calling as Gods people at this time is particularly to pray. The message translation of 1 Timothy 2: 1 puts it firmly “The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know.”

With love in Gods service
